There is a very special magic to winter in the mountains. The pure white of the snow, the crystal clear air, the strong sky blue, the crystals glistening in the sun and the snow-covered mountains - simply wonderful to be in the midst of this dream landscape. The possibilities are manifold for athletes, bon vivants, families ... you will be thrilled by the most beautiful side of winter.
Cross-country skiing at night
The cross-country ski trail from the cross-country stadium in Ramsau Ort is illuminated daily until 9 pm and recently also leads to our Landhaus Katharina. A great way to still be active in the evening under the starry sky.

The sun is already blinking through the window and the view of the snow-covered majestic Dachstein and the enchanting winter wonderland around Landhaus Katharina is a pleasure every day! Slept a little longer today – you can treat yourself to that on holiday. When holidaying in an apartment you are your own boss! The crispy rolls from the bread service and the freshly brewed coffee smell wonderful.
After breakfast and a leisurely reading of the daily newspaper, you are spoiled for choice: A walk across the Ramsau high plateau on well-groomed winter hiking trails? Buckle up your cross-country skis and get on the perfect Ramsau cross-country trail network directly from the house? Or do you plan to take the horse-drawn sleigh ride today, which everyone is really looking forward to?
The choice finally falls on a trip to the Sonnenalm. The hosts Eva and Gerhard from Landhaus Katharina also host the alpine hut at 1,350 meters above sea level and we have already heard from our apartment neighbors that the service and the food are supposed to be great! We walk to the nearby Rittisberg and take the chairlift up. Then continue on foot for about 50 minutes to the Sonnenalm. In the afternoon we are back in our cozy holiday apartment and rest a bit.
Then nothing will stop us cross-country skiers from finally getting on the perfectly groomed trails of the Ramsau trail network. The house is right on a cross-country ski run, so get out the front door and into the cross-country ski run! With the backdrop, cross-country skiing is always a dream - relaxing and sporty at the same time. There are also plenty of places to stop at the cross-country ski runs if you want to strengthen yourself or just let the sun shine on your stomach.
Back in the apartment, we look forward to enjoyable sauna sessions in our own sauna to relax and enjoy. Just lovely!
For dinner we look for a restaurant in the center of Ramsau. We take a leisurely stroll to the nearby town center and let ourselves be spoiled with culinary delights and make plans for the next relaxing day of vacation.

It's even quieter there, even more comfortable - the alpine pastures and excursion destinations are not overcrowded, the temperatures are perfect for hiking. We have found our dream place for a holiday in the mountains of Austria!

Ramsau am Dachstein is world-famous for its 200 km long cross-country skiing network of the best quality. Not only world-class skiers train here, but also leisure skiers appreciate the unique panorama. Leisurely in the classic style or sporty on 70 km of skating trails - it's up to you. In any case, it is a great pleasure in the midst of a fantastic winter landscape.

Rittisberg - family ski mountain
The gentle slopes in Ramsau or the crisp Rittisberg are particularly popular with families and are only 5 minutes away from us. The Rittisberg is also great for skiing beginners.

Even away from the pistes, the winter wonderland of Ramsau offers true enjoyment. Snowshoeing through the deep snow or exploring nature on the long winter hiking trails is uniquely good for body and soul. A romantic or social experience is also a horse-drawn sleigh ride, which is a tradition in Ramsau with strong Norikers and Haflingers.
